2 Listen to Part 1 of a phone conversation and answer the questions.

Who is speaking?
A secretary and her boss. -
Why does the woman have to describe the photos to the man?
He cannot access the internet, which prevents him from viewing the images directly. -
Which poster is the woman describing?
The poster featuring skydivers. -
Where does she think the people are?
She suggests they are in the sky above a rural or urban area, likely in Britain, Ireland, or possibly Scotland. -
What does the man think of the poster?
He finds it reasonably good or acceptable.
3 Study the Speaking box and look at the image below. Then complete sentences 1–4 with one or two words in each gap. Listen to Part 2 of the conversation and check.
- It shows some young people in a boat.
- In the background, you can see some trees.
- They might be on a river or maybe it's a lake.
- In the boat there are some big strong men – it's hard to say how many but I think there are eight.

💡 Phrases for Discussions (Exercise 1)
Stating an advantage: "One key advantage is...", "A major benefit of... is...", "It allows for more..."
Expressing preference: "I personally prefer... because...", "I'm more inclined towards...", "I find ... more suitable since..."
Agreeing/Disagreeing: "I see your point, however...", "That's true, but have you considered...", "I agree to an extent, but..."
🗣️ Strategy for Describing Images (Exercise 3)
Use this structure:
1. Start with the main focus: "It shows...", "The image depicts..."
2. Describe the foreground/background: "In the foreground/background, you can see..."
3. Speculate about details: "They might be...", "It looks like...", "Perhaps it's..."
4. Mention numbers & impressions: "There are about...", "It's hard to say exactly, but..."
